About Dan Jones

Dr. Dan Jones was a beloved professor at the University of Utah, advisor to dozens of elected officials, and expert pollster known by many as Utah’s political oracle. Throughout his long and impressive career, Dr. Jones served successfully in two separate yet complementary roles: the president of a successful public opinion and polling firm, and an inspiring professor of political science at the University of Utah where he was closely associated with the Hinckley Institute of Politics. Dan inspired generations of students to care passionately about politics, take part in internships through the Hinckley Institute of Politics, and seek careers in public service. Through Dan Jones and Associates, Dan provided the community with polling data and expert analysis on the most pressing issues facing our state for over four decades. The Dan Jones Center for Public Service honors this dual legacy by enabling impactful research and thought leadership with our community and state, while providing signature learning experiences and preparing students to become leaders and engaged citizens.
